Digestive Health Alliance (DHA)

Make a Difference Through the Grassroots Arm of IFFGD

IFFGD is calling on all individuals affected by functional gastrointestinal and motility disorders (FGIMDs) to join the most effective nationwide grassroots movement dedicated to improving treatment options and finding cures for these conditions, the Digestive Health Alliance™ (DHA).

Use your story to raise awareness in your community, advocate for change on Capitol Hill, or fundraise for critical research activities. If you would like to stand up, speak out, and work with others to create meaningful, positive change, please contact us.

Below are just a few examples of ways to take action and make a difference through DHA:

Advocating:

DHA advocates conduct coordinated outreach to their Members of Congress in support of a Legislative Agenda that is focused on increasing funding for federal medical research into FGIMDs and improving patient care. If you would like to become an advocate, please contact us.

Tanjie meets with her Senator, Richard Shelby (R-AL) to urge support for FGIMDs research.

The 2011 Capitol Hill Advocacy Day was June 14th and 15th at the Phoenix Park Hotel in Washington, DC. Advocates from across the country gathered to receive advocacy training from our Washington Representatives, network with other affected individuals, and make congressional visits; click here for more information.

Fundraising:

DHA fundraisers personally collect donations or host fundraising events in their communities to raise money for critical research activities. DHA fundraiser Reneé coordinated the 1st Annual DHA Walk by the Bay in Lynn Haven, FL on April 9th. If you would like additional information, please click here.

DHA also hosts events to raise funds for research, like our Southeastern Wisconsin Regatta, which took place on August 20th in Kenosha, WI. Find out more about this event here.

DHA supports the Childrens's GI Research Network, currently 6 pediatric research centers that share data and conduct collaborative research in hopes of finding treatments and cures. Find more information about the DHA Children's GI Reseach Network here.

Raising Awareness:

DHA ambassadors use their courageous story to humanize and raise awareness of FGIMDs in their communities and online. If you would like to lend your voice to a growing chorus working to raise awareness of FGIMDs, please contact us.
